Dodo Niță’s first meeting with Tintin was in 1983, at the French library in Craiova, where he read King Ottokar’s Sceptre. It was the beginning of Niță’s journey into the world of Tintin, a journey that eventually brought him back to Romania. In this new, revised bilingual edition (English-Swedish) of his publication Tintin in Romania he demonstrates that Hergé’s Syldavia was partially inspired by Romanian history and geography. Dodo Niță is a writer and expert on cartoons and comic books. He has, among other titles, written the reference work Istoria benzii desenate românești (2010) about the history of Romanian comics. Since 1990, he has been the organizer of the Salonul Internaţional al Benzii Desenate, an annual international comics festival in Romania.
