Elena Dunca was born in 1965 in Moscow, Russia and grew up in Bucharest, Romania. She is a researcher in palaeontology and lives since 1986 in Uppsala, Sweden. She received her PhD from Uppsala University in 1999. After finishing her studies she has published research articles in English and Swedish. With this book she debuts in children’s literature.
